Welcome to Hill Air Force Base, home of the 75th Air Base Wing. Hill AFB supports the Ogden Air Logistics Complex, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, Air Force active duty 388th and Reserve 419th Fighter Wings, and more than 50 mission partners. The base employs more than 27,000 active duty personnel, civilians and contractors, and oversees about 1,000,000 acres and more than 1,700 facilities in northern Utah, just south of Ogden. Bordered by the colorful Wasatch Mountains to the east and the Great Salt Lake to the west, you’ll find plenty of natural beauty at your new duty station.

Procedures for Entering Hill AFB

Whether you’re coming to Hill AFB for a PCS or just to visit, here is some information to help your arrival go smoothly.

Hill AFB is about 30 minutes from Salt Lake City International Airport. Other major cities and drive times are listed below.

Ogden, UT: Drive time from Ogden to base is about 20 minutes.

Provo, UT: Drive time from Houston to base is about 1.5 hours.

Boise, ID: Drive time from Boise to base is about 4 hours.

Hill AFB has multiple gates for gaining access to the base.

Incoming Personnel

All permanent party personnel reporting to Hill AFB should check in with a sponsor and/or at the Military Personnel Flight, where you will be scheduled for in-processing.

Coming to Hill AFB? Here’s What You Need For Base Access

Anyone visiting with a Department of Defence (DoD) Common Access Card and/or retired military ID can access the base through any gate.

If visitors (18+) do not have a DoD Common Access Card or retired military ID, they must go to the Visitor Control Center (VCC) with a US ID in the form of a Real ID and/or Enhanced Driver’s License.

If visitors do not have a Real ID/Enhanced driver's license, a retired military ID, a DoD Common Access Card, or a service-connected Veterans Card, they must bring another form of US ID, such as a passport, Social Security card, or birth certificate, to the Visitor Control Center.

What ID Do You Need For Base Access?

Anyone with a valid DoD-issued ID card is permitted onto the base. To access the installation as a guest of a valid DoD ID holder, you are required to present one of the following:

  • U.S. Military ID (all members of the U.S. Armed Forces, military retirees and dependent ID card holders, Gov't Civilian CAC card holders)
  • Veterans Health Identification Card issued by the U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs
  • U.S. Passport
  • U.S. Passport Card
  • State-issued identification, such as a driver’s license or identification card issued by a state that meets the REAL ID standards or an Interim Driver’s License issued by a state that meets the REAL ID standards

75th Medical Group

The 75th Medical Group is complete with primary care clinics, pharmacy, lab testing, and more to serve service members, retirees, and families.

The Hill AFB Commissary is a grocery store on base offering cost savings to service members and families.

75th Force Support Squadron

The 75th Force Support Squadron on Hill AFB offers a multitude of support to families calling Hill AFB home. From Child and Youth Services (CYS) to golf, fine dining, and everything in between, Force Support wants to make sure you thrive at your new duty station. Unaccompanied housing (UH) is mandatory and provided for single soldiers E1 to E4 with less than 3 years of service with no dependents. Unaccompanied military E4 with more than 3 years of service and above are not required to live in the barracks and may reside off base.

Hill AFB has privatized families living on base. Hill AFB partners with Boyer Hill Military Housing to provide housing for military families of Hill AFB, responsible for management, maintenance, and construction.

Base Schools (K-12)

Hill AFB has no schools on the installation. Students are zoned for the Davis School District.

Off-Base Schools (K-12)

Students residing in nearby communities off base are included in Ogden School District or Davis School District. Check the district websites to determine the schools you are zoned for based upon your address.
